Howdy there, partner! Welcome on into the Stacker Saloon.
Saddle on up to a stool and spill the beans about your day, fire away with them questions, or let loose and give us the lowdown on your wild and woolly life. We're all ears, so don't hold back!
We're open round the clock, so mosey on in whenever you please!
@coffeebadger will deny this.
It should never take more than two minutes to explain the American strategy.
The communists are interfering with the free market. We have to kill all communists and their proxies, foreign and domestic.
That's it. That's the strategy. All this other noise about stuff that happened before 2008 is non-Americans speculating on their interpretations of the strategy.
I went to two Halloween parties tonight. One was a wedding/halloween party. Both super fun and great food.
Best costume I saw was Saylor Moon & the guy who looks like the magician guy.

The Colombians came to town for Halloween and made me Arroz con Leche.
what is Arroz con Leche?
Basically rice pudding on steroids.
I'm not as much of a curmudgeon as @SimpleStacker, but the young adults raiding the neighborhood candy buckets do seem like a symbol of a fallen civilization.
Shame was a Chesterton Fence.
I truly am a curmudgeon. I already can't wait for this to be over.
😂
I've been sitting here handing out halloween candy for the last hour. Wife decided to buy a bunch of candy so I deviated from my pokemon cards strategy. I liked my pokemon cards idea, but now we have all this candy we have to get rid of.
I haven't seen any adults get candy yet, but some teenagers, which I thought was fine.
It's the combination of being not a child and taking enormous quantities that bothers me.
My daughter started interrogating people about their age and chasing away the grown-ups who weren't with kids. I'm not sure how accurate her targeting was.
Making shame great again, I like it.
@grayruby thank you for the lake Travis recommendation! It led me to The Oasis. Coolest restaurant ever
I haven’t been there but I heard it’s really nice. I just drove through that area and thought it was beautiful.
I did a hike near by and came here I will be indulging haha. I’ll write all about it tonight in my day 6 trip report!
Cool. I hope to get back to Austin and explore a little more. I was only in the city for about half a day.
@justin_shocknet
Yes, as far as BlokClink can confirm.
Why did this happen? Where is the pre image?
Both using the same Pub? When its 2 accounts on the same pub it's a db transaction so there's no preimage

still can't get the voice right
@k00b did you ever get your spaces to work?
I can’t get the cert. I emailed tech support and got nothing.
Is this the same issue you mentioned to the guy at TABCONF that you had?
I've never really done anything with it. I don't remember requesting a certificate.
But @curiousbitcoin might be able to give you some pointers.
Thanks @k00b
Looking at the screen shot @BlokchainB you are requesting an @TabConf name through spaces wallet.
The @TabConf name was a special promotion where the owner of the space (Andrew) burned the name after the event to prevent any further names on that space to be minted. You can verify the burn in Bitcoin block #973,077. Transaction id: 2c0164b79d9ed08da7d52556fd4ef0beea29b91ad68be1481efc38019a2d2f19
Doesn't look like your name made it in before the burn (https://explorer.spacesprotocol.org/@tabconf)
This is all so confusing I even emailed you guys and got nothing in return.
Very strange I didn’t get my name in time. So what happens now? It’s dead?
Yes it is confusing, there's a lot to learn with spaces that's for sure.
The good news is now that the protocol is finally built and live on Bitcoin mainnet, the focus has shifted to building tools that make spaces easier to interact with. Everything is open source.
[To be clear:
This spaces wallet you screenshot above is not an official wallet built by the core team. It was built by Andrew Lunde, who's an enthusiast of the project. He won the @TabConf name in auction (Bitcoin block #953,822 Transaction id ffac0ff85c2ed26e6a417aced6302d344420fe2033241d8e5631f56e759b8a9a) and was giving away names at the tabconf event. He's been away dealing with a personal matter for the past week or so after the burn.
I'm not an official member of the team either and I'm not affiliated with spaces wallet. I just see real value here and want more people to learn about spaces.
The official wallet built by the core team is the Akron wallet (akron.io) that allows users to manage top level spaces, bitcoin bidding, etc. and the Nacho app (nacho.io) that allows users to manage handles and point them at anything they want. Also the official sites (spacesprotocol.org) and (atbitcoin.com).]
As far as the @TabConf name, that's done. From the lead developer ''subs is asking if they (the owner of the @TabConf space) have the .sdb file for the zero hash commitment, proving its a continuation of the
@tabconftree, but it doesnt exist. so it cannot be recovered, ever.''Only the handles that were minted under @TabConf can be used, no further handles can ever be created under that space.
There's billions of other names available though, tabconf is a cool thing and it's cool if you got one, but there's plenty more. Both top level spaces and handles.
You can roll out new top level spaces with Akron wallet or through the space-cli. Then create your own handles.
or
You can register an @bitcoin or @orbee name through the Nacho app.
with that being said I’m deleting this app on my phone. Any of the items you mention work as a PWA?
Hey @BlokChainB, sorry just getting back from a funeral and trying to follow up on this.
I'm pretty sure we spoke at TABConf and you may have downloaded a version of the app with a bug that prevented submission. I'm looking at all the handles and don't see blokchainb@tabconf but I'd like to make it right. Email me at andrew(at)lunde(dot)com and I'll follow up.
I already deleted that wallet. Super frustrating that I didn’t get that TABCONF handle when I tried to claim it with the free code. I got my space now with the nacho wallet. My cert is still staged @bitcoin
No I don't think so.
Native mobile app (Nacho)
Native desktop app (Akron)
Regular websites (atbitcoin.com, spacesprotocol.org, explorer, marketplace, docs, etc.)
There is also orbee.chat which I forgot to mention. It's a pretty cool site created by the team. It's like a discord or telegram that uses spaces as usernames, NIP29.
There's a faucet (https://spacesprotocol.org/faucet) if you were looking for a free name to mess around with.
I'll pass along the idea of PWA and see if the team could get that implemented.
These on iOS?

This weekend, I continued with my best practice of pausing before Chinese words and getting the son to read them aloud. No need to spend money on tuition when the shopping mall is a vibrant classroom. I think it would take a while for my efforts to bear fruit, but through this process, I discovered something unexpected. I was teaching the boy to read 海鲜 (seafood) when the younger sister pointed out 海 and uttered 海豚 (dolphin). Her Chinese teacher at PCF Sparkletots must be as goated as me if she has managed to guide young minds to internalise various characters that contain a mind-bogglingly large amount of strokes. Or the stereotype that girls naturally have a flair for languages is true after all. Either way, I feel glad to have reproduced twice because my valiant efforts at inculcating a love of Chinese could benefit more than one child.

I'm"Western Union charged me $5 to send $20 home. Lightning did it for 5 sats."
This happened to me last month. I'm Nigerian living in Tripoli, Libya. I wanted to send small money to family in Nigeria and the fees were almost 25%.
A guy here showed me Lightning. Same $20 arrived in seconds for almost nothing.
Now I'm trying to learn how to off-ramp Lightning to Naira without getting scammed by P2P sellers who only want USDT.
How do you guys in Africa actually do it? What's your cheapest trusted method?
