In Peru, that fruit is called "pitahaya," and it is expensive compared to the price of other fruits food is quite cheap there. I never gave myself the chance to try it. I would like to do so; they sell it here in Venezuela, too.

they are a type of cactus that grows like a vine. you can grow them most places that are hot and don't have too much moisture. I had a beautiful one growing here in Texas, but it got so big I couldn't bring it in when the cold temps of winter came, and it got frozen. Very sad.

I also grow them in planters, though they tend to take longer to bear fruit; ideally, they should be planted in the ground with plenty of sun. Propagation is best done via cuttings, although I have successfully planted them by mixing seeds with clay balls and compost and scattering them across the land (nendo dango)

Can this be done in an apartment?

It’s so sad that happened to you. I’m not very good at growing plants; they all wither on me.
