As one of the old users of SN, I'm not tech-savvy enough to help with the code or wallet integration stuff, but SN was where I learned about Bitcoin deeply, where old Bitcoiners, experienced users, or even Bitcoin Core developers actually spend time to explain and help with troubleshooting.
Has @k00b ever thought of positioning SN as a Bitcoin school for everyone? Like when people ask where THE place is to learn about Bitcoin, then being pointed to SN, much more powerful! Then, later, you could advance to showcase or integrate everything else built on top of Bitcoin, instead of copying the old fiat model: one big platform for everything, which ended up attracting many trash and bots; SN could stay focused on Bitcoin-related things; I do understand SN might want to replace Reddit eventually, but staying a niche might be a better idea when everyone wants to build the next BIG social media platform. Given how many people still have no clue about Bitcoin or have never tried a Bitcoin wallet, the current wallet complexity might be a real turnoff for beginners, which becomes an issue for new user on-boarding.
I actually quite miss the old SN, when everything was dead simple: sign up - read or post - keep learning each day. I don't think there is a better environment out there for beginners to learn about Bitcoin till this day; Bitcoin is going to always be part of Bitcoiners' life, something to care about, however if I want to learn about others things in life, I might go to other platforms, since SN don't really have much advantage here, the network effect is real; Meanwhile I always come back to see what other stackers share or is anything happening in the Bitcoin space.
Regarding the wallet setup, giving people options to choose is good, but having TOO MUCH to choose from is a headache, especially for beginners; How about giving the simplest practice with detailed tutorials on how to set it up, which is something I am gladly to help with.
For example:
For receiving: LN address only. It doesn't matter whether users prefer Zeus, Blink, Rizful, Coinos, or anything else. That way, they just need to enter the LN address, and good to go!
For sending: NWC only. I know most NWC can set a sending limit, given how many recent hacks, this also limits users' potential risk of losing funds.
Keeping things simple and stupid always helps, so stackers can spend more time reading and learning instead of choosing which wallet to use in the first place. As for the spark issue, new users will learn while interacting in SN, and later adapt their wallet preference as they learn the difference between custodial and non-custodial wallets and more, it's a journey.

idk how much easier? no way I am sharing the seeds so to use a platform, and I really think sending and receiving should be separate, especially after the BTC Pay hack.
sharing what seeds? You need encryption to use SN other than CCs: it is generated for you, not for you to type some existing seed, and it is an encryption key only. The "seed" is the recovery phrase that you just need to store somewhere.

That's true for many things and many people. What I've experienced is that there's enough overlap of interests here that we end up wanting to talk to each other about other stuff too. I don't think we need to be the next Reddit, but it is nice that SN has the flexibility to accommodate the variety of common interests within the community.
It's also a slow discovery process since most stackers are so cautious about privacy, then you slowly discover that, wow, we actually have quite a few things in common.
