Here's how this argument seems to me:
You: Go do raindances in your yard to fight communism.
Me: I don't understand how that reduces communism.
You: You must love communism.

Yeah, you must. You have to partake in the dance.

You know we're not talking about voting in general right? We're talking about voting in 2026.

What's different about 2026 that changes this argument?

If all you can offer is a command, I'm going to ignore it.

reply

See this proves my point. If you came to the rain dances you wouldn't ask this question. You would know why this time is different. You would feel it instinctively because you'd be invested in the game. But because you lack whimsy, you're out of the loop. If you fill in the bubbles, then you can savor the entrails of the beast up close and know good from evil.

reply

Since you haven't explained anything to me, I have no reason to regret being out of the loop, nor do I have any reason to change my mind.

The explanation is that if Democrats win they hit us with another wave of caravans and we're all dead. What more explanation do you need?

Your bloc lets them capture zones peacefully, and then we're stuck fighting from outside which is 1,000 times harder.

reply

The same additional explanation I've been asking for the entire time. Explain how my single non-decisive vote prevents that.

I can't make the rest of "my bloc" vote, so you're just talking to me and my one vote in a non-swing district.

Do you live in a gated community?

What are you? I want to know which ethnicity is at fault for losing 2026. Do you pronounce "forward" as "foeward"?

I can't make the rest of "my bloc" vote

You have to. That's part of the game. There are 2 blocs voting Yes-Caravan, my bloc is voting No-Caravan and your bloc is abstaining. Come up with something to persuade yourself and then fix the rest of your bloc.

Getting people to do stuff they don't feel like doing for fickle utopian promises is a very important skill for us to master.
