Actually you need you to join. I've made peace with my death. You probably have a lot more at stake than I do. You fix the paradox.

Again, if you can explain to me how my single non-decisive vote will reduce communism I’m happy to do it. But if you can’t explain that to me, then I won’t do it.

would you be persuadable by a comment like "be the kind of person that would make the world a better place if there were more of them"?

so, not an appeal to personal benefits, but some kind of appeal to social or moral duty

I’m very open to arguments like that. I make a lot of choices for reasons like that. The difference is that there are real benefits that do accrue to someone/something: for example buying organic or humane certified products or a lot of matters of etiquette. There are some direct benefits to me, but it’s mostly about not poisoning places I don’t live in and not harming creatures that I don’t know.

I’m not sympathetic to it here because the action is demonstrably unimpactful, which means there are better uses for my time.

It reduces it by one legitimacy token. I don't understand your fixation on whether it's "decisive." The "decisive" victory over communism is going to take years. I'm asking you to participate in a symbolic toast to our struggle and bind your soul to a utopian political movement that's going to use you as a meat shield.
