Recently, I saw a pair of striving eyes at an event, they were so deep and captivating that I couldn't stop looking. Somehow, it made me want to know his story and maybe even help him in any way I can, because it's so rare to see eyes like that. I am not talking about the normal sense of beauty, not about the size or the color, but the depth and story behind them. Later, we talked for hours because of our shared interests.
How interesting that the eyes can say so much about the person! I often notice people's eyebrows or eyelashes these days, but not so much their eyes...So today I went out and started paying more attention to people's eyes, but most of what I saw was tiredness, stress, confusion, or maybe even hollowness. When was the last time you saw a pair of eyes that made you think, "this person is so different"?
What I fond interesting is that humans don't really have that much control over our eyes themselves (pupils grow or shrink, but otherwise it's just how we move them around), and yet they can be so expressive. It must be that all the various facial muscles are what add the deep meaning we find in eyes, and yet I think we remember eyes more than expressions.
Also, there is that feeling that you can tell something about a person by looking into their eyes, something more than by looking at their face. How is it that this relatively expressionless thing can carry such meaning?
Isn't it wonderful!! Eyes are the window to the soul.
Ayn Rand also made a big deal about such eyes betraying abnormal levels of thinking.
I'm very self-conscious about where I put my eyes because I like staring at people and especially faces and have little desire to talk most of the time - and people expect you to smile or look away when they match your gaze but I'm usually lost in thought and don't really smile like that - so I usually look down or away. Most people's eyes look distracted ime.
I tend to look away from people when talking. I think it's not a good thing. But I'm too self conscious to look into their eyes.
I enjoy making eye contact during conversations, you can tell a lot from their eyes, eg. are they lying or hiding something? enjoying it or not? etc.
Yeah it's lame! I wish I could just stare at people all the time with a blank face like some kind of normal sociopath.
"It is my eyes which see, and the sight of my eyes grants beauty to the earth." so well said!
I'm more open talking with people than I used to, especially if they are doing interesting things irl.
The eyes are the gateway to a person's soul and reveal a great deal about them; one simply needs to know how to look.
