It is true Musk is an incredible force and has succeeded in space, Tesla, X and Grok.
However failed at Doge.
Most of his businesses are heavily reliant upon government funding especially the biggest, SpaceX.
Skynet is complicit in enabling Israeli genocide.
BYD EVs are better value than Teslas bit in the US Tesla is protected by Trumps banning of Chinese EVs.
China by far leads the world in EVs, PVs, robotics, electricity generation and general infrastructure construction.
Chinas huge lead in electricity generation gives it a major advantage in the AI race.
Musk himself in a recent interview with The Economist admits China will catch up with the US in microchip fabs, sooner than most people think.
Musk is an exceptional exception- after decades of decadent neoliberal financialisation in the west Musk still succeeds in making things where most others have failed and given up.
For too long neoliberal financialisation has shifted the incentives away from productive enterprise and toward non-productive speculation.
China now advances upon the last bastions of the petrodollar empire and Musks genius is not enough to stop the advance.
China used Musk to shown them how to build EVs and now China is building EVs better than Musks Tesla.
One man, Elon Musk has done more than any other to advance the US industrial capacity but China as a whole is still winning.

Was thinking 🤔 and the thought occured to me that:

  • Are whole foods like Bitcoin, where they're considered more pure if you like
  • And processed food like fiat, for obvious reasons

And one can take it a step further perhaps, I'm seeing ATM these reels about whole foods like broccoli 🥦 that are sprayed with all sorts of nasties, so could we correlate them with these fake L2s, like they are presenting themselves to the public as the real deal but under the surface there is more to the story

And also why the vast majority of the population eat a processed food diet with a fringe minority eating only whole foods, similar to Bitcoin adoption I'd suggest

Due to the mass marketing of whichever campaign suits the narrative

Just a thought 💭

Have I ever told you about the time my toilet was clogged but I was too cheap to actually own a plunger so I went and bought one and unplugged my toilet and then returned it saying that my wife thought it didn't match our decor?

It sounds bad now that I wrote it out. But in the moment it seemed reasonable.

You wouldn't understand the magnitude of the hatred I feel toward socialism and anyone who supports the dictatorship in Venezuela. Anyone who gives it more strength, funding...

This is a newspaper from over a decade ago that says (obviously lies) "by 2011, Venezuela will have the best electrical system on the continent."

I hate populism. I hate this system.

Had a rough day, ngl. Time for a sabbatical.

Getting yelled at for what I consider a trivial remark is first and foremost confusing. Then demotivating. And lastly makes me question if participation is worth the potential hostility. I'll hunker down, reflect, and go into lurk mode for the time being.

No, this is not a rage quit. I'm just buying myself some time to reset. I'll participate again when I'm less downcast about that experience.

In any event, I'll keep compiling my PSI data. Been doing that for myself anyway. What I don't know yet is if/when I'll be publishing it again (or where).

I know the feeling. Internet spats are weirdly unpleasant.

reply

Sorry to hear that. Getting in online spats can be demoralizing. But it's important to remember that none of that is real, nor really matters to your life.

Don't think I ever hit 7% in the rewards pool. my god.

Imagine if I'd done that on the massive pots of 3 million sats back in... checks notes... a few weeks ago!

update: manually counting about 2,500 CCs spent yesterday (is there a way to quickly tally up/calculate that?), so perhaps not that great of a return?

reply

"Selection accuracy". Just compare against the other #5/#6 (me):

reply

I'm sorry, I don't understand. Did you finish in the same positions on the same day? Or was it a different day, and you got the 4% because you finished in those same positions?

I'm rank 6 where @denlillaapan is rank 5 (comments), and I am rank 5 where he is rank 6 (posts.)

lol, that's insane. Honestly quite incredible there's such a big difference

reply

I didn't study the new algo but I think it has something to do with consistency. So if you only upzap those things that a lot of other stackers upzapped, and early, then you get a larger share. In your case you consistently upzapped very popular comments. Which is why there is nearly a 3x cliff between us on the comments because I don't discriminate upzaps on comments much.

I spent around 11k or so

reply

I thought trust factored into the rank but rank determined the rewards. It must be more different than I realized.

Over the weekend, I visited Wallace, Idaho. I saw a storefront for rent. 2000 square feet for $850/month. It got me imagining putting one of my business ideas into action.

"Freedom LAB Internet Cafe". Bitcoin-centric. Workshops every week. Teaching people computer literacy and how to mine Bitcoin in the historic Silver Valley.

Seeking investors!

Sounds cool. But from what I've observed, running a space is difficult. Things like Pubkey make me think combining the space with a coffee shop or bar or some other cashflow might make sense.

I took my own PSLE more than thirty years ago, but today, I feel as happy as a lark.

I sense that the sense (no pun intended) of relief I feel must be immense because I just let the daughter play at the playground for a solid 15 minutes without feeling pressured at all. No tug of war. No turmoil about having to do something or contact someone. I was simply be.

This might also have been due to the fact that I let the Primary 1 son try 8 PSLE Foundation Grammar MCQs. Not only that, I keyed in the questions he got wrong in my app. I have done today’s worth of PSLE prep for him.

Embracing the carefree days ahead.
