I thought Japan has a pretty vibrant third wave coffee scene. One of the best coffees I ever brewed myself came from beans roasted by Glitch Coffee in Tokyo: https://maps.app.goo.gl/LzXFCCgzmVpz9LZQ9

I like Japanese coffee!
I think I was thinking of the coffee snobs around me who state their preference for real coffee in Australia (whatever real means to them) and deride everything else haha

so the Southeast Asian way to drink coffee is to add condensed milk. But after living in Japan for two years, I have grown to like the taste of black coffee (notwithstanding the criticism that coffee in Japan is so bland to the extent of tasting like diluted water). These days, I drink kopi o kosong (that’s how we call black coffee with no milk and sugar here)
