More cross-posting = more visibility. The main page gets diluted quickly, but anyone who browses individual territories will see the topic for longer.

is actually the opposite; the more you cross-post, the more likely it is that people who have muted one of the territories you cross-posted to will not see your post. Or did something has changed in the past few months?
