am sure there are more than 8 billion sats out there. 2.1 quadrillion minus Satoshi Nakamoto's 0.1 quadrillion, minus maybe 0.2 quadrillion lost sats (and this is a maybe). so sats' circulating supply is about 1.8 quadrillion. and old whales usually wake up.
