The brain is not meant to age to 100 usually;

this is incomplete knowledge; lifespans have been effectively controlled from an indefinite number of years to a manageable number (about 80 yo, or roughly three generations - after grandpa dies, true memories of his times die with him, so history can be rewritten and/or forgotten);

furthermore, the lack of imagination to live beyond the "statistically acceptable" age compounds & spreads into other areas of life, preventing people from acting upon proper information;

finally, grieving won't solve shit - move on and start extending ur pathetic lifespan; by the way, it looks like dementia is contagious (as are neoplastic flesh conditions); it wud be prudent for u to avoid contact with those who were around the man, since he was likely heavily infested going into the final hours - it is in the best interest of the infestation to gather as many family members together as possible, in order to propagate its nests in the human population;
