i wonder how many bots are sustained on rewards sats? my mental model at the moment is that they catch the odd zap from unsuspecting stackers and then coast off those sats for quite some time.

the arbitrary number is regrettable, the cap could be expressed in as some log function so one user couldn't bury another beneath a 100k sat debt. I think most of the bots won't spent 500 sats for a single post, or if they do, they won't do it for long. But a human user who is disliked by another might be willing to pay 500 sats (of course this creates a huge UX problem: "Why the heck is this costing so much this time?!")

Why not bring trust back?

That did a nice job of burying junk accounts.

I also think you should consider adding a small platform fee to posts, maybe just one sat at first but it’s a lever you could use.

At most 2-3, but I think the more realistic answer is: zero.
