T: I believe that schools should teach students problem-solving skills because students will gain a variety of benefits.
R: To begin with, students will learn that their peers may consider the same issue differently because they have different perspectives. This will hone their empathy as they place themselves in their peers’ shoes. Moreover, in the process of learning problem-solving skills, students learn to discuss their thoughts and synthesise one another’s ideas. Learning the skills of negotiation and compromise can only bode well for their future.
E: Some schools in Singapore, such as the United World College of South East Asia, are imparting problem-solving skills through a project-based subject as part of the International Baccalaureate program. Students tackle case studies and assemble portfolios, thus sharpening their skills.
E: Personally, I don’t study a problem-solving subject. However, sometimes, I get opportunities to solve problems with my classmates. For our Primary 5 camp, we had to cook our own dinner!
S: I suggest that schools teach students problem-solving skills after PSLE. The challenges need not be too onerous in terms of preparation. We can, for instance, prepare a ‘parachute’ to prevent an egg from breaking.

Do you mean deducing patterns such as this?
What an interesting post!
Honestly, looking at it from my faith and Christian worldview, I see a very deep connection with what you share. I believe it's an excellent idea for schools to teach problem-solving, because God created us with the capacity to reason and be creative in order to bring solutions to this world.
that’s true. God never throws us what we can’t handle
