Something does not add up. On August 9, Saylor posted Strategy's iconic orange-dot Bitcoin acquisition chart on X with the caption "Doing business." The post came days after the company disclosed selling 1,638 BTC in late July and early August for $104.73 million to fund share buybacks and dividends. 

The post ignited speculation about a potential new treasury purchase. Meanwhile, the "smart money" signals are flat-out contradicting each other. On one side: U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded $853.5 million in net inflows from August 3–7, marking five consecutive positive sessions and their best weekly inflow since April, with BlackRock's, IBIT capturing a significant share of the demand. 

On the other: the average price of the last 50 days still sits below the 200-day moving average, in the formation traders call a death cross. Even the betting markets are split, the market for BTC's next move prices a drop to $55K at 64.6% odds against 35.4% for a run to $84K. 

Add in the fact that Marathon Digital liquidated over 23,000 BTC to fund energy and AI infrastructure expansion, reflecting a broader trend of miners diversifying operations beyond pure-play Bitcoin rewards,  and you have institutions buying via ETFs while insiders and miners quietly sell. Who's actually right?
