He was born in Uganda; you can't run for President if you are not a "natural-born citizen," and he became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 2018. He wasn't born to U.S. citizens or in the U.S., which means he isn't a "natural-born citizen."
He has talked about it himself and has been asked if the U.S. Constitution should be amended to allow naturalized citizens to run, Mamdani stated, "I think the Constitution looks good the way it is"
