First time I went real high (Salta, Argentina; *Tren a las Nubes*), me and a guy tried to walk to a nearby lookout point -- like 200m away. *No dice*. Heart beating, breath insane, legs like sludge, no stamina whatsoever. **It's astonishing to behold**

The hike is tough, but anyone with hiking chops can make it.

You only go up 500m of altitude per day, so there is a lot of time to acclimatize.

Still, it is pretty weird being so out of breath when walking a path that would be child's play at ground level.
