In Venezuela, the prices for used cars are absurdly ridiculous. You see vehicles in poor condition with major mechanical issues, shoddy interior finishes, and mediocre paint jobs yet the price tags never drop below 5,000 dollars. We’re talking about cars that are 20 years old or older; and don’t even get me started on models from 2011 onwards. The car models most commonly seen here are the Aveo, Hilux, Meru, and Corolla.

The level of speculation surrounding prices in Venezuela is incredible and hard to take in. He also adds that most people have completely lost track of the value of things and, above all, the value of money.

5000$ used to be for 5yo Corollas, not 20y Fords 😩

For a 20 year old car, you can probably get that for around USD $2,000 here.
