Stackers, what would you do if electricity and the internet went down for days or even weeks. Or what if it's completely shutdown for good?
In Malawi and many parts of the Global South, power cuts and unreliable or unaffordable internet access are part of everyday life for many people—not just a hypothetical emergency.
I've been thinking about this, especially after exploring ideas like building offline spaces similar to Stacker News. Others have discussed whether Cashu could help communities in Cuba cope with unreliable infrastructure and how frequently people experience power outages.
Sovereignty matters most, but how prepared are we when the infrastructure we depend on disappears? What's your plan when the lights go out?
I'm kinda a prepper, got food and water stocked for at least a year, plus whatever the food forest and garden crank out. Don't figure things'd change much from what I did today: growin' food and hangin' with my people
cry.
Start burning my books and clothes for heat.
which book would you burn first
probably some of the nonsense ones... Mark Carney's Values or Nordhaus' Spirit of Green (aier.org/article/how-to-be-a-green-economist-nordhaus-style/)
Like others, I've got at least some short-term preparation for dealing without electricity. Long-term, I don't know -- the only way to know if I can successfully adjust to such a big change is to try, and I'd rather not, thank you very much. :-)
If you're asking specifically about BTC, I've also tried to stack some assets that are more tangible as well.
