What to do with vibed sites? I like Brian Hirschfield's (aka @Fundamentals) math podcast, but I'm torn about this page on entropy. I have a feeling there is some good stuff there, but I can't bring myself to jump into it because it has such a strong slop feel.

If this Hirschfield's human-produced in-depth explainer of entropy, I'd be really excited about it -- possibly even if the content is largely the same as a vibe-produced version. So why am I so much less willing to read this page (which I haven't even confirmed is vibed)?

This reminds me of a time at a college-wide faculty meeting where one professor proudly declared that they had written a whole textbook simply by feeding their notes to a LLM. "I saved so much time," she proudly beamed.

I don't know how the rest of the room felt, but I was heavily cringing inside. I wondered whether she had even proofread any of the chapters. I wondered how her students were going to feel slogging through all that slop.

I really don't know what motivates people to want to produce something if their own hands didn't make it.

to be clear, I don't know if Fundamentals hand wrote this or not, and I really like most of the stuff he posts, but I'm finding that this happens more and more these days where I visit some project and at first I'm excited, but then it has a bunch of visual clues that say vibe-coded and I start to get worried.

How are we going to get past this? I do think there is something to an idea where creators who are earnest should pay people to read their stuff.

But that's so backwards from what the internet is, I don't think there is a way to make it work.

The site says "Imagined by _____", which to me is pretty much an admission that it was AI-generated, or at least heavily AI-assisted.

Personally I want to see the market play out some more before making any judgments on what "should be done". I'm not convinced that the people putting AI slop out are necessarily getting the rewards they want from it. It might die down, or people may find better ways to filter those out.
