Speak now and forever hold your keys - LayerTree getting us one step closer to that

So, it requires a soft fork, possibly one that involves more than some of the leading proposals.

It seems like it would be difficult for the operator (or anyone else to actually rug you), however there are a number of ways they can grief your exit. While you can exit more cheaply (and quickly?) than Ark, if someone else in the layer tree manages to exit before your exit tx is confirmed, you have to make a new exit tx. Unclear how long this process can be extended.

Also, when you deposit, you need to verify the proof of balance that the operator gives you. Of you dont, I think they may be able to steal from you. Chat seems to think the verification only takes a few milliseconds on a phone or laptop, but I wonder if there isn't a weak point here.

If you lose your proof of balance (or proof of inclusion), the operator can freeze you out of your funds, but cannot sweep them.

But mostly I'm unclear about the benefits of this: I think if you use it to create a lightning channel, you still need to manage your liquidity and I think there is still a liveness requirement if using layertree to make a lightning channel.

Maybe the benefit is that it is a cheaper way to make lightning channels? But I don't think it allows you to onboard to lightning with a very small amount of sats (ie your first zap). Maybe I'm missing something...?
