I run Asahi Linux on a MacBook Pro M2 and wanted a Touch Bar I could shape to my own taste, so I wrote barux: a small daemon in Rust that draws on the Touch Bar through DRM (appletbdrm) and reads touch from evdev. It's a drop-in alternative to tiny-dfr, and everything lives in one TOML file.

Placing Linux in an old machine is something I always wanted to try out. Someone told me compatibility is an issue, and Ubuntu may not be an option. How do you find it with Asahi? Is all hardware compatible with the OS?
Definitely, everything runs smoothly. I installed Arch and Hyprland, Fedora users don't have problems since it's the first to receive updates, and I've already seen Debian and Gentoo installs too. macOS you have to leave around because you need it for installation and boot
Very Nice 👍
