This guy was a prominent bitcoiner back in the day, right? I really enjoy these kind of stories. I hated the hex bullshit, but I'm not going to assume his guilt based on what doesn't amount to much hard evidence yet. Lots of crypto bros like watches.
For me, he came to prominence during the blocksize war. He was reasonably knowledgeable and defended bitcoin with great confidence and in-your-face attitude in a few debates. And he confronted Craig Wright pretty well at a conference.
That's how he built his following, unfortunately. Because soon after he turned to scamming.
I wouldn't say he was a prominent bitcoiner exactly. He did a podcast that was popular with people wanting to get rich, basically. I think it was around 2016-2017 he got popular. Basically the classic con man personality, got a lot of gullible and greedy people interested in him. Then launched various projects and eventually a scamcoin/"investment" whatever you choose to call it.
Very different type than the Craig Wright type scammer. Both "con men" but Richard Heart the significantly more subtle type: plays on people believing confidence yeah, but doesn't just shout outright lies to try to win by brazenness, just keeps appealing, with persuasive words, to people's base greed and need for a guru. Well, this was 2017ish. IIRC years later it became more and more kind of clownish performance art.
Yeah he went from BTC to ETH then created HEX and pulsechain. Smart dude too it's a shame he became such a huge scammer.
I always found Richard ostentatious. To me, he seemed to care too much about being perceived as above average smart, which he surely was. His flashy in-your-face luxury lifestyle always put me off. Hex was the straw that broke the camels back...
So Richard Heart's real name is Richard James Schueler? That threw me off for a minute. I wonder if they will give him a fancy jumpsuit for jail.
