i haven't used a gym in years and avoid exercise equipment in general even if it's available, especially since it's laden with other people's parasites, excretions, patroleum, and usually under toxic lights (outdoor gyms are cute tho); it also takes up space & needs maintenance;
nowadays i mostly train by moving rocks & wood or pulling out weeds at farms/homesteads/ranches, as well as hauling baggage; occasionally i get a kettlebell for carrying, tossing, and flipping in order to maintain strength/agility/fitness;
tree and rock climbing also provide a solid full-body full-range workout; if i need a tougher challenge, i strap on a weight or do some heavy tasks with one hand, like carrying the weight in an extended overhead "snatch" position; in a way, i strive to embody the "farmboy strong" image; ain't nothin' a muddy madafaka can't do;
🛡💪😉👊🗡
Pavel Tsatsouline - Enter the Kettlebell, a must watch; u can go a step beyond if u magnetize ur kettlebell (iykyk); fun fact - i used to have an 88 lbs kettlebell, lol; rarely used, it was fun but needed too much concentration to stay safe;
in general, i now avoid most isolated repetitive motions, and think that it's a childish pursuit with little benefit and much risk; however, i still like grip-sttength training and testing - it's a great gauge of overall physical fitness; i also have a few rubber bands, mostly for a quick rehab routine;
i work slowly, naked under the sun, with mud rubbed on for pulling out toxins & sunburn-shielding and sungaze in-between and during tasks; i steadily get stronger, more resilient to injuries, and most importantly, the tasks are becoming more enjoyable as i seek that elusive "tensionless tension" as Bruce Lee wud say;
a simple prescription is: pack a backpack with heavy weights and go walk outside on trails;
