I wonder why this type of stuff is not being done more. This is exactly what Bitcoin needs!

People who do this type of work deserve to be funded much more than any other thing right now on Bitcoin.

I liked more the approach from team A, of explaining and being calmer and having an actual conversation with people who would they had reason to believe were more interested. But team B won by a big margin by just being blunt about it and acting like an annoying salesman, mysteries of the world.

I wonder how many of these businesses will keep accepting it after a while though

Team B had one opener, one technician, and one closer, which got better results than talking for hours about details.

Both approaches are good, though.

Whether they keep accepting it in the long run mostly depends on local Bitcoiners and tourists coming in, asking for it, and spending.

But the Bitcoin Jungle team keeps the relation going even after putting the dot on the map, by calling them, visiting them, assisting them through whatsapp !

Team A’s targets are more likely to still be accepting bitcoin a year from now cause they seemed to build more rapport with the merchants.

Team B’s guy with sunglasses had a very good style for his sales pitch: confident, direct approach and clear cadence.

Would be great if the businesses also paid each other or their suppliers in bitcoin creating real circular economies.

This is what's happening in CR. Literally.

where can we read more about this?

perhaps if more people heard about it they will be more inspired to try something similar in their areas

unfortunately I'm too much of a nerd to start such a movement myself

reply

You just need to find the right people around you

reply

thats what I thought too, team A's merchants seem to be more interested, team B only has the numbers

but having the numbers is also important, as one merchant seeing that others also accept is more likely to keep accepting

reply

that's pretty good news

in that case we need to see more organizations like bitcoin jungle doing this, is this a for-profit company that runs the wallet infrastructure and also integration with the local banking system?

it's like a miracle that it even exists, and it didn't seem to have any KYC at all, simple setup, I wonder if this type of stuff has been tried elsewhere, and how can we get more people to go do this type of legwork for bitcoin jungle

reply

Bitcoin Jungle is non-profit. Conversions from and to local currency are enabled thanks to BULL BITCOIN, and is a paid service. Both work hand in hand.

how can we get more people to go do this type of legwork for bitcoin jungle
Just contact Bitcoin Jungle to visit and contribute !

Costa Rica seems to have one of the best conditions to the circular economy evolution: tourism, lot of small businesses, unbanked merchants, less strict regulations(?)

Still, lot of hard work from the Bitcoin Jungle community too. That can’t be downplayed.

Maybe the success from Bitcoin Jungle could be codified to some open-source step-by-step manual for the rest of the world about how to create Bitcoin circular economies.
