Was a Scottish physicist and mathematician[1] who was responsible for the classical theory of electromagnetic radiation, which was the first theory to describe electricity, magnetism and light as different manifestations of the same phenomenon. Maxwell's equationsfor electromagnetism achieved the second great unification in physics,[2] where the first one had been realised by Isaac Newton
He reduced all of the current knowledge on electricity and magnetism into a linked set of differential equations with 20 equations in 20 variables.
- Mum was about 40 when he was born! She passed when he was 8
- Had an incredible memory at a young age. Memorized the Psalms
- University of Edinburgh at age 16
Maxwell died in Cambridge of abdominal cancer on 5 November 1879 at the age of 48.[36] His mother had died at the same age of the same type of cancer
I remember learning about the Maxwell equations long ago in college. Learning about the man who developed them is quite interesting. No clue he was up there with Issac Newton and Albert Einstein!! Glad his mother went full term and gave birth to this genius!
