Very cool! I wonder if the defcon tamper evident village will take a run at defeating it.

Cutting the bottom off is the easy part. Reattaching it without a detectable seam is the hard part.

Well put.

It is not a security device, It is a tamper resistance device.

tamper-evident, not -resistant. You'll anyway know that I stole your seed because I've swept it. All resistance comes from extrinsic factors, like a seed passphrase and the safe you put it in.

It's a waste of money from a security perspective, but if it makes you feel better, it's a must have. Like a coldcard.

That is a possibility, no security mechanism is full proof.

This would be just another layer of defense.

This is clever - physical tamper evidence + phone-scannable entropy. Like a reusable glitter seal where the pattern is the fingerprint, so you can photo-verify if your backup was touched.

For seed storage it's a good detection layer, not protection. Still needs to be with metal backup + geographically separated. Biggest risk isn't someone opening it stealthily, it's fire/flood/corrosion. But for checking if your safe deposit or family member peeked? Perfect use case.

Reusable is key - most tamper seals are single-use so people stop checking. If you can reseal and re-scan with your phone daily, you'll actually do it.
