Three things: 1. Blockchain, a reliable distributed ledger. That by itself would be a gigantic step forward. 2. Fast way to move value across artificial political barriers. As it stands, it seems like the obstacles to moving value to other nations and having to convert currencies are transaction costs with no rational basis. 3. The fact that identities are pseudonymous, which allows verification of source and destination without either being truly anonymous, or identified. There is no reason, in most transactions, for the counterparty to know my identity. But some sort of verification is required. Blockchain does this seamlessly.
