Spent the afternoon at a Romanian food festival and ate like royalty. Here's the full lineup:
Ciorbă de Burtă — 11,833 sats ($10)
Romania's famous tripe soup. Creamy, garlicky, with that vinegar kick that wakes you right up. I really enjoyed this soup! I bought some more (32oz) to have some at home! You gotta be a Tripe fan to really appreciate the rich flavor!
Ciorbă de Perișoare — 9,466 sats ($8)
Meatball soup with pork meatballs and rice in a sour tomato broth with lovage. Comfort in a cup. Solid soup but not worth a 32oz take home container. Reminds me of vegetable soup but it wasn’t super salty which was good
Sarmale cu Mămăligă și Smântână — 16,566 sats ($14)
The holy trinity: cabbage rolls stuffed with pork and rice, polenta, and sour cream. The most Romanian plate there is. The polenta (grits for us mericans) was tasty. I really liked these stuffed cabbage rolls. I grabbed another order to bring but also mixed in some beef and pork stuffed rolls.
Pastramă de Porc — 14,199 sats ($12)
Grilled pork pastrami with mustard. Simple and perfect. I liked it I was expecting this to be bland but the Romanians added some nice seasonings to this grilled hog. But one serving was enough for me
Mici — 28,990 sats ($24.50)
The king of the festival. Six grilled skinless sausages with garlic, eaten with mustard. Tasty but wasn’t crazy about it. Will bring the rest home to munch on during the week.
Total damage: 81,054 sats ($68.50).
I also got some desserts but they aren’t named so I didn’t post them.
I must say I am shocked how good Romanian food is! This is the first time I ever tried Romanian food and I like it. Five dishes, zero regrets. Stackers if a Romanian food festival ever comes near you, go hungry and let us know what you think on SN!
I'm going to have a fit seeing so many delicious things... Hahahaha!
Your tripe soup sounded intense, did the sour tang really surprise you?
It did at first bite but the cream keeps me eating
The tripe soup and skinless sausages look really good. gosh, now I'm really feeling hungry!
Ciorbă de Perișoare Look really goood!!!
I can’t say I have ever had Romanian food. Sounds good.
21k sats for soup research and you come back with full report for 3366 - that's real PoW. Burtă worth the 32oz take-home, Perișoare wasn't. Would you pay 11k again?
