an open-source React component that turns “scan this invoice” into a searchable, country-aware path to a wallet, app, exchange, or swap.

This kind of thing does seem better than showing a QR, but I wonder if all the options are too overwhelming anyway.

One data point on whether the options overwhelm: today I tried to pay a first ~500 sat invoice starting from USDC on Base (no BTC anywhere). What blocked me wasn't how many options there were. It was facts the list doesn't show until you're halfway in:

  • Minimums. USDC(Base) to Lightning: Exolix minimum ~48.9 USDC, FixedFloat ~2.15 USDC. A 500 sat invoice is far below both.
  • Availability. SideShift's API currently answers "Settle method is disabled" for Lightning.
  • Eligibility. FixedFloat's page says U.S. persons can't exchange.
  • Timing. SN's invoice expires in 10 min, and fixed-rate swaps also give you a ~10 min deposit window. If the deposit chain is slow, the invoice dies first.
  • Hold invoices. None of the swappers say whether they can pay a hold invoice, so you only find out by losing a payment.

So filtering the list by amount (hide routes whose minimum is above the invoice), by country, and by "pays hold invoices: yes/no/unknown" would probably shrink it to two or three real choices. That would do more than a shorter list would.
