pull down to refresh

Ever since I set the goal of owning my own home, I see houses with great renovation potential everywhere; in reality, any building is a potential gem.

I’m not an architect, an interior designer, or an engineer; I just enjoy playing around with AI to virtually remodel houses. Old houses have a special touch they have personality, with huge doors and windows and very elegant central courtyards; honestly, they remind me of my paternal great grandmother's house. I am fascinated by the people who restore these houses, preserving their essence while simultaneously modernizing their interiors and décor a bit. Something that catches my eye is those houses with neglected facades that are a whole different world inside everything new, charming, and sophisticated; no one passing by would ever imagine that the interior is spectacular.

Regarding the house in the photo, I saw it this week; it’s a good size and I like the colors they’re fresh. I don’t care for the municipality where it’s located because it’s a bit unsafe, but there are many old houses right there. It’s a shame, really, because they are beautiful; many are abandoned a waste and a pity.

This is a video I saw of a house in Mérida, Mexico. I loved the idea; I’d like to add a few more plants to it.

I often think of how I would design my house if given a green field. I rarely fantasize about remodels due to all the work and dealing with design decisions that were not originally yours.

Having purchased an existing home and having to replace and make repairs due to Poor design and workmanship I rather just have something new

That way all the repairs and replacements are because of your own poor design and workmanship decisions!

In terms of cost, is it more cost effective to build from scratch or to remodel?

Don't be afraid to jump on an opportunity that you really love. It's hard to put a price on creating a great home for your family.

You could make great memories for several generations, like your great grandmother did.

I loved that window......it brought back good memories for me too......on vacation I remember that there were years when we traveled to my grandmother's brother's house who lived in another city and in the room where we children stayed there was a window like that......it must really be nice to wake up in that place

Yes, lovely.

You should definitely pursue this interest but since you don't have a construction or design background I suggest you partner with someone who does on your first project or two. Even if you make very little money initially the experience will be valuable.

Honestly I'm not into architecture, but this video makes me want to have my own house too. The old charm is still there, it has so much history.

If you could add one thing to this house, what would it be? For me, I'd add a small library.
