I'm part of a group that deal with politicians around this time every year. I've literally stood in the hallway as they walk away from their donors laughing and calling them gullible like the bad guys from an 80s coming-of-age drama. They really are that blatantly evil. It's exhausting. I think the worst part is smiling and shaking hands with these people. Pretending like they're human. But that's what it takes to get from A to B.

Well respect for being able to compartmentalize your feelings like that and keeping on. I couldn’t. It’s a professional superpower.
