In the wallets screen, there are 2 balances:

  1. Rewards
  2. Credits

The former can be withdrawn, the latter can only be spent.

Rewards are given for zaps, so you only get those if you zap a lot - it's like an incentive to zap. (which in turn means posts get more zaps... it's complex haha)

I'm quite sure you received my big zap on this post straight to your wallet. If you, on the main post at the top of this page, tap ... right next to Music, you'll see that there is 1125 zapped in sats and some CCs. The "sats" have gone straight to your wallet (minus fees)

I wonder how that compares to Spotify and YT payouts! Maybe one day, v4v can replace the insanity of middlemen and rentseeking, and actually sustain art scenes.

May need a revolution or 2 for that to become reality, but the more it's used, the better.

Also: let's tag @jasonb as our resident solution provider for sovereign musicians. Jason - you got any tips?

reply

Hello dear, you can't compare Spotify ot YT with this v4v music system...it is a monopoly ....here as an artist you feel free and you get feedback, you get rewards for your music...there is no system that rips you off here.....this is just wonderful....@jasonb

Hey @haleen, your track sounds great!

Personally, I make all my money playing live gigs or recording for other people. In the studio, even with bands I play in full time, I charge big money upfront and just sign everything away, even with music I wrote. If I'm recording my own material, I just always assume it's going to be mostly for promotion of gigs and posterity/art's sake.

The solution I made for people that want to try to finance their own recordings (or books or sheet music or art) is Direct Current. @haleen, I think it might be a perfect thing for your current fans. Whereas Fountain and Wavlake are probably nice for finding fans, my setup is more like bandcamp but with voluntary fees. It's what you can send to people that already want your music forever and are happy to pay for that.

While writing this, I also checked out the dance version of Free Your Mind. Very cool!
