There's definitely a place for downzapping, but I'm not sure getting into these wars is prudent.

I guess downzapping, while not making as much sense as promoting quality posts, helps induce adrenaline and endorphins because the downzappers fancy themselves on a moral crusade, eager to shield the ignorant from scammy stuff.

The downzappers might have the best of intentions, but maybe reacting so aggressively backfired because it garnered more attention for the posts that they wanted to push into oblivion. And after a while, people stopped caring, so it kinda hurt to see people expend so many sats on stuff that others just don’t see as an issue.

Don’t get me wrong. I enjoy the windfalls - but I won’t miss this period when it disappears
