The Rifles is still on my list. I found it interesting that he attempted such an ambitious series. He seems to have lived an impressive life.

I keep hoping that Volkmann will finish the Seven Dreams. I read Dying Grass and enjoyed it just as much as the others, but I wonder if he isn't running out of adventures to weave into his story. I have yet to encounter someone who creates a similar mixture of personal and historical fiction.

Volkmann is one of my favorite authors. Some of where the Bill in Bill Scoresby comes from.
