My posts and comments have also been downzapped and like you I also tried complaining, nothing happened. Then I realised it's better not to complain about something that's kinda coming from top-heavy and mostly co-ordinated (sometimes misjudged) to make overall stacker experience better. 

I believe downzapping Slop and Spam is fine, all other downzaps are just unnecessary and does not do any good to overall stacker experience .
