I’m trying something new. I’ll be joining Christine D. Kim on her show Ready for Merge for 15 episodes to talk about Bitcoin Core and Bitcoin protocol development. We will aim to make short episodes of around 30 minutes and cover just up to three topics. It’ll be geared toward a broader audience than the Bitcoin Optech Recap. Episodes about Bitcoin will be coming out fortnightly on Fridays. The show will alternate between episodes about Ethereum development with Nixo Rokish and Bitcoin development with me.

First episode about Bitcoin should be released on the 18th, but we recorded a dry-run a few weeks ago for practice covering the Bitcoin Core v32 release schedule, a PR to Bitcoin Core about rate-limiting transaction relay, and Luke’s removal from the BIP Editors, and did a season launch episode to introduce the format and hosts.

Anyway, if you haven’t quite filled out your entire 40h of podcasts per week, please consider tuning in!

Will it be on fountain?

It is not on Fountain as of now.

reply

15 episodes with Murch? I’m definitely tuning in. 30 minutes sounds perfect.

reply

This sounds cool! Maybe reach some nonbitcoiners!

reply

Yeah, and it might also be a more interesting format for those that feel the Optech Recap is too technical or too long.

reply

I enjoy optech but I also find that I have to have a nice long stretch to listen to it, which I don't always have.

reply

Yeah, we cracked 2.5h again this week.

Sometimes I think that our Optech episodes could provide higher value to our listeners if there was more post-production. I haven’t listened to ourselves in a long while, but I’m sure that there would be room for improvement by cutting a bit here and there.

We do a great job! I am not Bias at all :)

reply

Possibly. Long podcasts are enjoyable, but I find that I usually don't come back to an episode if I stop part way through. Especially because a new one will be out so soon.

Optech is still the beat Bitcoin technical summary available.

reply

That series you're doing on Bitcoin Core looks interesting; I'll be keeping an eye out for it so I don't miss it.

Having Murch explain Bitcoin Core to a broader audience is a great idea.

reply

Will it be shared anywhere that is freely accessible? (ie. not requiring an account)

Edit: Never mind, I see #1576289 shares such a link.

awesome!
