I missed this the first time around on the first post, because I just downzapped it with the default zap and then it was gone from my custom view (I do have a way to force it back into my list tho, which I did when I saw my satistics going bananas.) So this is a point of friction, but as you say:

@k00b convinced me of this earlier this year: too prominent negativity invites more negativity. So I can personally live with the 2 extra clicks to find out, and 2 extra clicks to downzap.
If there was an easy one-click downzap method
After the first downzap there is such a thing (well, 2-click really), but honestly that's the time when I like it least. To me personally, zapwars are wasteful, as in they waste both energy and sats, so I am in fact much aligned with @siggy47's opinion both here and in the prior thread. I am arguing for something I really hate doing, because I hate scammers even more - it's 2 evils for me.
I think the question is more specific than that. Is it okay to profit from other people's scamming? I phrase it this way because it's not like there is some whale who made their money scamming but has only come to SN in order to zap. It seems that the problem here is that stackers are being presented with extra reward sats if they are willing to allow a top level post to describe and link to a scam.
That seems bad. If we are all willing to let a scammer promote their content on SN because we are getting a small boost of sats everyday, that is not a good thing.
I think I glanced at this current scam post when I first saw it, found it complicated and unpleasant and downzapped it lightly. Since then I hadn't thought about it much, despite it being on the front page. It only came up for me again because I noticed the rewards were large yesterday and I got curious.
I also think stackers are not always interested in putting the time and effort into evaluating whether a post is actively scammy or just overly complicated and misguided junk that happens to be someone's passion project. It's not always clear -- at least to make a quick decision about.
In general, I suspect stackers would be willing to downzap such posts. However, the thought that needs to go into such an action is more effort than most stackers will bring: you must notice the scammy post has been boosted, click on details to see how much it has been boosted and whether anyone else has downzapped, then downzap it yourself. Then repeat the process if it gets boosted again.
If there was an easy one-click downzap method, it's possible we'd see more stackers pushing back against such scammy posts. But wed probably also see a lot of new negative behaviors as well.
I also note that the few times I've heavily downzapped a post, it doesn't feel like I'm breaking even -- it feels expensive. This is likely a misunderstanding of what is happening, but the feeling is real and until we figure out how to change that, stackers will only downzap bug amounts when very emotionally invested.
