Glad you're starting to feel better.

D and B-12 are the two nutrients that are very difficult to get enough of in a modern diet.

It's probably not even right to think about D as a vitamin, rather it's a hormone produced in our bodies under the right conditions (midday Sun exposure on unprotected skin) that happens to be present in low quantities in some foods.

B-12 comes from bacteria and we're adapted to the much higher levels that come from uncooked foods. This is why fermented foods are so important.

You’re 100% correct on your observation.

I did take the 60000 iu dose for vitamin D but probably more than that what helped me is midday sun exposure. I regularly go out in the sun now and not taking any maintenance dose anymore. It felt to me The lack of D stalled my gut. Now the sin exposure is a habit for me, I feel more energetic when I have one.
For B12 I’m having special Indian fermented water mixed with spices and herbs called “Kanji”. Before it I tried Curd and Yougurt and other dairy products but they made me feel off than better because my gut wasn’t ready for them. Now I’m slowly starting all dairy products including two boiled eggs in my day diet.

I drink kombucha somewhat often, but probably don't eat enough fermented foods.

Kombucha is also great.
Try out Kanji someday. It's also easy to prepare.

I think most of the world don't get enough of fermented foods as they are not pretty much a popular choice.
