I used to look at that chart regularly, until the downward trend became too obvious.
It looks like we are bouncing back a little, which is what it's felt like.

SN is basically the size of a medium sized discord server or a big telegram channel. Considering there are plenty of plugins/bots to zap each other on telegram, the value add of having an entire custom website is small

I didn't know that existed. Just looking at that chart, it seems like there was an initial spike and then regression to the mean with healthy growth after the fact. That's really encouraging.

I vote Yes. Spending on Stacker News is in my opinion a great use case for what Bitcoin can enable. Buying your daily coffee with bitcoin is great but people can do that with fiat now. Doing micropayments to enable Value for Value on a social media site is a novel concept that traditional fiat can not do.
I find myself checking the analytics page (https://stacker.news/stackers/all/forever) on a regular basis.
I have been pleasantly surprised in unique spenders graph showing a possible upward trend recently.
