learn important verbs like to be or to have
learn the most drequent few hundred words which often make up 90% of speech
learn the order of sentences subject-verb-object or whatever
just learn the hard facts. At least for these basics. It takes you incredibly far for very little work. Avoiding it is just such an incomprehensibly stupid modern trend.
