pull down to refresh

I'm still kind of shocked every once in a while that I live in a time when I can access any book I want in seconds.

The time I spent years ago conniving, searching, driving, hunting, and always waiting to get my hands on some book or other...so much time and effort.

but do you think that effort made us cherish the books more too? And perhaps even to treat knowledge itself with greater respect

Treating knowledge with greater respect is an interesting idea. I certainly was more willing to sit and think about an idea. Now thinking feels more rushed. Gotta go gather more info, you know? Gotta read new analysis. Before, reading everything on a niche subject was a necessarily slow process because I couldn't track down all the sources. Finding sources is a cinch now. So there's no reason not to jump into the firehose -- except knowledge waterboarding isnt any more fun than choking on water.

Do you feel this pressure?
