It's been a while since I had a hare brained idea like this. I was aimlessly researching really crappy cities in upstate New York, when I stumbled upon Jamestown:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jamestown%2C_New_York

It is apparently really run down and sketchy, which means the cost of living is low. You can buy houses for as low as 50k. This is the perfect place for stackers to settle, take over, and create a bitcoin circular economy.

Here is the best part. Electric rates are around 8 1/2 cents per KWH, because of hydro power and a deregulated electric market. Perfect for mining.

I'm packing my bags.

I just realized that you can get a house for the price of 5 macbooks.
Or 10 houses for the price of a B300 node

I love how swift and decisive you are

reply

Sounds promising, except for still being in New York State.

reply

That's the best part. Attack the belly of the beast.

If I could figure out how to live there without any taxable income or assets, then it would be attractive.

I forgot to mention the cultural attractions:

The Lucy & Desi Museum

"In the 20th century, Jamestown was a thriving industrial area, noted for producing several well-known products. They include the crescent wrench, produced by Karl Peterson's the Crescent Tool Company in Jamestown beginning in 1907"

The home of the famous $5 wrench? How fitting.

reply

We could corner the wrench market and make it a $50 60k sats wrench.

Nice find! That seals it

Is the governor of New York the one who is Muslim and communist?

reply

That's the mayor of New York City

reply

The governor is probably not a Muslim

She is Irish Catholic. All this government talk is making me think of someone who no longer posts here. I feel compelled to say fuck the guvs in his honor.

reply

Ah, thanks... I'd seen something like that before... it's still an excellent project you're proposing... perhaps a solar panel would also help with the mining.

I don't think the sun shines much in western New York. We're going to need those ASICs for heat in the winter.

reply

Wow... I didn't know that

This pictures from the home on Zillow is interesting:

Before they had separate closets, for clothing that needed to be hung up there were usually just had some hooks on the wall.

This is a little bit fancier, in that there was a curtain covering the hooks.

I can already hear the garage humming.

Seriously, who going to open The Saloon?

Bitcoiners looked at a run-down city with cheap houses and said:

“Perfect. Nobody can stop us now.”
