This is my first ever DIY project.
I don't have a lot of tools, know how or patience, but I was determined to give my cats a taste of the outdoors despite living in a 4th floor apartment.
The roof of my building is divided into sections, one per owner. It's generally an ugly dumping ground for building materials. I used to refer to my part as the prison yard (where I occasionally worked out with the rusty dumbbells).
The first job was to paint it. Yes, I was too lazy to scrape the old flaking paint off, so it's a rustic look.
Next, I added a net roof to stop birds from getting in and cats from getting out.
I managed to procure some AstroTurf from a friend, along with some wood for shelving and some logs from another buddy.
A few weeks later, I added some more plants, chairs and items I scrounged from the roof.
All in all, I spent about $200 including materials and the 100 Euros in BTC I sent my buddy who helped with installation.
Here's a quick video of the cats exploring.
We go up there 2 or 3 times a day for coffee and lounging time now.
Thanks for reading. I've included pictures of my house below.

Balthazar
The life I deserve
For 15 minutes twice a day, right?
Pretty good for a start
When I read the title, I was somewhat hoping to see a picture with you surrounded by several pussies (cat-ratio).
[Insert giga-phil meme here] --excuse me as I go grow up, now.
Nice pow though

I love the photo of "Balthazar". He looks like a bit of a bad boy. Well done π The refurbishment has turned out really well.
He is a very traumatized and nervous soul.
But he is getting better after 2 years of routine, and it helps he is with his sister.
He's still a bit skittish, so I bring him to the catio in his carrier for scheduled outside time.
Okay, this is amazing ande approve! :))
Thanks. The cats approve too.
Good work
Excellent! There's still time to cross post to animal world and maybe win a top post of the week tomorrow! ( shameless plug)
