My takeaway:

This gives me context as to why Haiti is a failed state. I didn’t know the French put a blockade on them and forced them to make reparations for the slave uprising and independence. Millions of gold franks and made them take loans out.

Haiti also screwed up by invading the Dominican Republic. The US occupation didn’t help matters as well. History like this is rocket fuel for Marxism.
