That value-association with "money" is important and I probably should have considered it more before embarking on this adventure.
I thought about using words like "auction" or "market" but figured the simple route would be better.
Have you ever tried to explain SN to someone? How did you feel it went? What sort of language did you use?
The word money has almost as many meanings as there are people on earth haha so it can be a touchy subject, and rightfully so! I think it’s a natural reaction people had but still it doesn’t leave room for conversation.
As for my experience usually people seem marveled by the idea of some “easy money” but find it quite intimidating to do anything that looks “techy” and on top of that Bitcoin is associated with the “crypto bro” culture so they are not as open as they could be in the beginning. And to be fair the techy part is challenging to me and I’m still learning so I completely understand them. As for the association well 🤷♀️ people believe what fits them already, it’s pretty lazy to be opinionated without even researching.
Nice experiment! I do agree with what some of them say: most people, whatever they believe in and so on, are used to having “free” use of their social media/platforms so they just reject it, no more questions asked. Also it could be pretty easy with someone with more cash to take over that platform. It could happen, I guess. But what I see the most it’s not the fear of censorship or the barrier money could be for people at first. But just the fact that it almost seems that money is evil and blame everything on it. I mean I wish I had more but I definitely do not think it’s inherently evil. It’s a tool and if said tool is being used in a corrupt way, it’s not money’s fault. But I guess it’s easier to just say something not someone is responsible for someone’s actions.
