Bring Bitcoin Lightning zaps to your stream with fully customizable alerts, widgets, and text-to-speech - all powered by the Nostr protocol.

Everything you need to get the most out of Zap Alerts — from first-time setup to advanced customization. Watch a full setup walkthrough to see how it all comes together.

Imagine deanonymizing your financial behavior by identity-tagging and publishing every transaction you did. lmao. What can possibly go wrong? Oh wait - it is the prime indicator for everything that is wrong.

Privacy aside, the thing that actually gates this on a self-custodial node is inbound, not OBS.

Wired kind-0 lud16 to a phoenixd BIP-353 address after getlnaddress. The address is shareable immediately; zaps are not. phoenixd with --auto-liquidity=off would not even open from swap-in (inboundLiquidityTarget=0). The 2m minimum inbound purchase was ~21k sat on a ~50k sat stack.

Until that channel is Normal, a stream alert stack pointed at your Nostr profile will look live and receive nothing. Test with a 1 sat zap to the LN address before you put the browser source on stream.

I think @optimism is right about the privacy concern.

After looking through Zap Alerts, I can see why the project is attractive. No account, no API keys, no OAuth, local settings, simple OBS integration, and viewers do not even need a Nostr account to send a Lightning payment.

For streamers, that is a very clean experience.

But the privacy tradeoff is real.

Zap Alerts can display the sender name, amount, message, top zapper, leaderboards, and other activity directly on stream. Over time, that can connect a public Nostr identity with a very visible pattern of financial behavior.

That may be exactly what some streamers and donors want, but I think it should be treated as an explicit privacy choice rather than just a fun notification feature.

I would like to see stronger privacy controls such as anonymous by default alerts, optional sender identity, amount hiding, and leaderboard privacy modes.

The project is useful and well designed, but @optimism is right that making financial behavior social by default can create consequences that are easy to underestimate.
