Interesting... I asked a similar question a few days ago. I wanted to know if Geyser would be a good place to ask for financial support to start my treatment process, which I kind of gave up on because I don't think it's a good platform for something like this.
I absolutely agree. Geyser is built for other things not as a GoFundMe type site imho. Did you manage to raise the funds you needed for your treatment?
No, unfortunately. I could not receive any help either from inside Iran or outside Iran because I did not register a request for financial assistance to start my treatment process. Actually, I don't know where to do this. I am in a very bad situation and it is getting worse every day. But really, I and my family cannot afford the costs of disease control and treatment, so I have no hope of treatment and walking again. Support centers inside Iran pay me the equivalent of 18 dollars a month. 😂
Can geyser be used for say food campaigns or medical expenses? I thought it was mainly for projects pushing Bitcoin circular economies? Correct me if am wrong. First option won't work given restrictions and the technical knowledge required to set it up
have you check https://agora.spot ?
I have but it doesn't seem to have much traction and I need something where folks can at least hope to get noticed
You cannot expect this platform to bring traffic for you. You will always be responsible for doing the marketing and sharing the links with your community in order to ensure they know where to donate.
I think you I didn't communicate properly but I what I meant to say is that unlike platforms like Gofundme, it doesn't seem to have much successfully funded campaigns. I understand that promoting a cause is up to the individual seeking help but ultimately it's a chicken and egg situation when it comes to where a lot of donors are going to look to. Super important especially for people with unreliable internet connectivity and heavily censored access
I recommend Geyser!
