(PSLE 2012) Tell us about a time when you felt happy.

I am a staunch supporter of the Mandai Wildlife Reserve, so when the chance to attend an educator session at the Rainforest Wild Adventure East arose, I signed up for it without hesitation.

The educator session delighted me in more ways than one. Firstly, I got to ride on the Canopy Glider and soaked up the aerial views of the landscapes inspired by Africa. Secondly, I saw myriad animals in their habitats, such as the pygmy hippos and the African painted dogs. Most importantly, I made the acquaintance of Nicholas, our guide who was evidently very passionate about his work. Not only did I pick up rare insights about the animals, but I also got a glimpse into his life as a Mandai educator. His genuine sharing really made me glad that I had sacrificed my usual Thursday afternoon to venture out of my comfort zone. As a parting message, I told him that this was the best afternoon I had experienced in Term 3 and sincerely meant it.

I’m happy because this memorable experience enhanced my understanding of animals as well as the people who work tirelessly for their sake.
