as interesting as it is to see more merchants using these terminals, I don't view it as a sign of genuine adoption, because it neither changes the mindset nor eliminates the fiat intermediary, it’s like prepaid Visa cards, but from the merchant's side. Any new merchant adopting Bitcoin directly represents a success for adoption—despite Square, not because of them.

I do see it as genuine adoption. What someone chooses to do with their sats after I pay them doesn't really matter, as long as I don't have to use dollars to pay them. Sure, id love them to hold bitcoin, but spending sats makes all the difference to me.

this will become genuine once some between these merchants start accepting it directly in their own wallets or even square if it’s advantageous to them, I don’t think it would be good given all kyc and compliance layers. I mean, they are accepting bitcoin, which is good, but the entire mechanism behind is a simple mimic of bitcoin power. when they truly understand, know and use with others, bce, can we claim adoption is genuine. now, it isn’t.

Only when they truly understand and utilize the technology with other parties can we say that adoption is genuine. Right now, it isn't.

using your sats to pay them via square is, for me, the same thing as using a visa card.
