By now I think most people reading this know that I am a Republican staffer on Capitol Hill working on the House side. I bring this up because working on The Hill, even when I don’t want to be in “the know” about something, you end up in it anyway. Tonight President Trump is giving another Prime-Time address to the Nation, and based on all the information circulating about the event, I cannot for the life of me find a “win” or even just a solid point for doing this.

Now I could be entirely off base, and something could be announced that shocks me, but based on what I have heard through the grapevine and the reports that have come out, the President is going to rehash how he didn't actually lose the 2020 election. Georgia is supposed to be the focal point of his argument (at least state-wise), and the targeting of the two Democratic Senators is expected. As a country, as a society, we have to move forward and past this obsession.

Over the last few days, there have been growing calls about this concerning China, and while I could see that being the case because of the geopolitical rivalry, I find it extremely suspicious given how Trump has gone to China to meet with Xi Jinping. If there was some sort of crazy evidence of hacking or some other thing, then why on God's green earth did Trump go to meet this guy?

Given the cuts that the Trump Admin has made to election security, this only adds further fuel to the fire that his actions and words do not match. There are so many other things he could spend his time focusing on and explaining to the American people, like the Iranian conflict, but instead he has dug his heels in on the 2020 elections.

I assume he will use this time and whatever he presents as to why we need the Senate to pass the SAVE America Act (Safeguard American Voter Eligibility Act), but I do not see this as being the correct way to go about this. Needless to say, I guess we will find out in a few minutes, but this seems like something that is only going to divide the country and have both sides dig in their heels.

Everything the State has is stolen.
Everything the State says is a lie.
Get out of there brother.

Without the state you would be a helpless shivering wreck living under the law of the jungle.
The state ensures law and order and an economy built on enforceable contracts.
If you don't like it go live somewhere there is no law and order and no state.
But You Don't because you are a bleeding bleating big talk no walk Libertarian Hypocrite.

reply

Having a government doesn’t change the fundamental natural laws of our reality. The law of the jungle as you say? Government places itself and its agents as the “apex predator” of that jungle, it cannot erase the jungle or transport you out of it. Look at any war, the government didn’t protect the people from war- government starts and pursues war.

All you can do is hope and pray that the government will have mercy on you during your interactions with it. And apparently you willingly support it and grant it permission over your own life. You are a willing slave.

You can call me an “unwilling slave” and ask what’s the difference. But I believe it makes an important difference- and informs my plans and actions through life.

reply

Government creates a structure of rules and enforcement.
This enables individuals to operate in a context of relative security from internal and external threats.
You can assert that government is an apex predator but this can only happen if the people are so weak and lazy that they allow it.
You wank on about self sovereignty but contribute nothing to the collective security that can only be achieved through government.
You are a lazy, selfish, irrational, naive and parasitic burden upon society.
Go live somewhere these is little or no government and live your dream- yeah right, you will never because you are whinging all talk no walk hypocrite.

'All you can do is hope and pray that the government will have mercy on you during your interactions with it. And apparently you willingly support it and grant it permission over your own life. You are a willing slave.'

Wrong. I have literally taken my government to court to challenge its assertions. I fight for my rights while acknowledging government is an essential mechanism for creating and upholding those rights while I have a reciprocal obligation and duty to ensure my government is as good as it can be within the context of human nature.
I do not opt out or disengage from reality as you do- I accept reality and engage to work toward the best outcome possible.

You are not "in the know". You are just a pawn used by the deep state to parrot their talking points. The same way Trump is their bitch.

reply

sure in the know much more than you and don’t have to hide behind an anon account 😂

reply

I can't believe I actually miss f***in' Obama

reply

You do? This is so much more interesting.

A lot of people want politics to be entertaining for some reason. If you want to be entertained, why don't you go and see Nolans Odyssee in Cinemas tonight instead?

reply

I want politics to go away but I'm not going to get that. The best I can get is entertainment.

reply

ya know this might be the best take I’ve seen yet!

reply

I will say that really the Bush and Obama era politicians on both sides had a lot more decorum and respected not only the Presidency but also their own offices now no one respects anything

reply

I appreciate the current mask-off moment, even if it signals the possibility of downfall. I hope it motivates others to raise their own integrity, as it has motivated me.

decorum is an illusion, tho.

Bush era? Bush was daddy's drunk driving, affluenza. Remember the only private jet allowed to fly in the days after 9/11? The Bin Laden Family, leaving the country.

Remember Cheney? dude was maximally vile, but wildly well connected. All decorum, null humanity.

Obama? I campaigned for him & celebrated his first win. I knew he would escalate the war, because I had read not just his books but his essays. What I didn't know was how drunk on youthful naivety I was. Genuinely the end of that American peak.

reply

I thought everyone just accepted the 2020 election was stolen but we are just not supposed to talk about it.

reply

Trump is losing the war on Iran and so desperate to change the narrative.

Trump is a big Loser.

Drip drip

Let's just get to the end game, tired of waiting, that's the real mistake... Squandered the 24 energy

Round up the machines

Arresst the NGO's, some governors, and media

Prison ships to gitmo for the deep state

Elections under martial law in November

Pump the coin and jubilee the debt

No more cliffhangers

reply

oh yeah the 24 energy was gone faster than you could snap your fingers. We truly are a party that cannot get its act together and it’s wild.

reply

I don't think this is necessarily a mistake. America's elections are a mess and a lot of people want more transparency.

If it's just more whining with no evidence, that will be a mistake, but credible claims with evidence and accountability would be an enormous victory.

reply

We know what they did. This is just a formality.

reply

What did 'they' do?
S I L E N C E . . .
Trump is a Loser.

reply

They meddled in our internal affairs. Communists that try to divide our society by threatening the Constitutional Republic must face the judgment of history.

reply

Is it that difficult? Staying in power is priority number one for an autocrat. Second is extracting more money in any way possible. Then there's a big gap and then other stuff.

reply

I'd like to hear your take after having digested the presentation.

appreciate knowing there are stackers in that neco of the woods

The political divide is already deep enough. Any speech that aims to unite the country has to acknowledge different perspectives while still offering a path forward.
